The ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea Bissau (ESSMGB) held a combined Medal Presentation Parade for the Ghanaian, Nigerian and Senegalese Contingents including some Staff officers of the Force Headquarters on 14 May, 2026 in Guinea Bissau.

A Medals Day delegation and a reconnaissance team for GHANCOY 5 from Ghana led by the Director General Military Records, Brigadier General Michael Kwami were present to grace the occasion.

The Medals were presented to personnel in recognition of their dedication, sacrifice and contribution to ECOWAS’s commitment in providing peace support and political stability in Guinea Bissau.

The Force Commander, Brigadier General Danjuma Ribah Dantani stated that, the occasion was a testament of resilience, discipline and selfless commitment to the ECOWAS mandate by all the proud medal recipients.

He emphasised that, the synergy and cooperation between the mission and security forces of Guinea Bissau have significantly enhanced operational effectiveness.

The Resident Representative of the President of the ECOWAS Commission (RRPC) in Guinea Bissau, HE Ambassador Ngozi Ukaije who was the special Guest of Honour stated that, the medals were a representation of standards of excellence.

She reiterated that, the parade was a manifestation of courage and dedication to selfless service to Guinea Bissau and ECOWAS.

On Wednesday 13 May, 2026, the Medal Day delegation paid an official visit to the GHANCOY Camp in the Presidential Palace.

The Combat Team Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Keelson Ekow Amoah briefed the Ghanaian delegation on GHANCOY 4’s Operations, Logistics and Administration issues.

The delegation was conducted round the Camp before an all-ranks durbar.

The leader of the delegation, Brigadier General Michael Kwami commended the Combat Team Commander for the numerous projects undertaken to enhance operations and the welfare of personnel.

He further advised troops against misinformation, abuse of social media and other actions that might bring GAF into disrepute.

He also encouraged personnel of GHANCOY 4 to maintain the level of professionalism they have exhibited over the period to keep the flag of Ghana flying high.

The delegation included, Col BB Pantoah, Lt Col JD Ibrahim, Lt Col LK Danful, Maj C Nkansah and Maj A AL Dinko (Rtd).
